One of the largest North American birds, with nine foot wing span. They are the ultimate snowbird wintering in Florida with summers up north. They are shy by nature sticking to their own group. They do not dive for food, instead they work as a team herding their prey in shallow waters. They are skilled food thieves as well. Saw these two on our dock one evening. Wondered what the relationship was…it wasn’t mating season?
