FAQ

What is the difference between a print (giclee) and an original?

Obviously an original oil painting is considered an investment that should appreciate each year as an artist continues to mature and expand her art career. While I am not going to say I am the next Matisse, my work has been garnering a lot of attention, causing higher demand.

Prints on Canvas offer a wonderful option for the home decorator and wildlife enthusiast.   My giclee prints on canvas are archival for 100 years and are color corrected to be as vibrant as the original. We use a very reputable printer, who prints each giclee individually instead of “mass-producing”. The prints are on stretcher bars, so the appearance is one that looks just like an original painting on canvas. Each print on canvas is sealed with a sealant to protect the giclee. Another added value of purchasing a print on canvas, they look just like an original and the cost is much more affordable.

If you just love my art for the art’s sake, this is a great way to go. One would not be able to distinguish between the original and a print on canvas from across the room.

The bottom line is it really just depends on what you want, both are great options.

We also offer custom framed giclees that are framed in our signature style.  This is where we do some custom work.  If you see an image that you would like in our signature frame and don't see it in the size you want, email barb@coastallifestudio.com and we'll work together to make it happen.

What is the turn around time on ordering a print online?

We estimate 2 to 3 weeks for creation plus time it takes to ship.  Each piece is put is created for you at the time you order.

Be sure to order early during the busy holiday season!

Can I return or exchange an item?

Your complete satisfaction is our goal and if you are not satisfied with the purchase, please call our studio with any questions and we will do our very best to assist you. Prints may be returned in excellent condition within 5 days of receiving the artwork. The buyer is responsible for the shipping and insurance costs.

Can I drop by your studio?

My working studio is located in my home...it may take up more than half my home but the other half is private. Therefore studio visits are by appointment ONLY!  I don’t want any one to catch my husband and myself dancing naked in our studio!  So there you have it artist being artist!

Are giclee paintings always available?

No!  All our giclee paintings and framed giclees are done in limited editions of 250 per size.  They are put into production when you make a purchase, we do not stock the prints.  What we do have on hand are Original Oils that have not sold yet.  Remember to make an appointment to see these as I don't want you to catch us dancing naked!  Or you can catch us at an art show (where we are always clothed), please see my Schedule.
