Barbara Fallenbaum's Original Painting of a young Royal Tern being fed by one of its parents.
Royal Terns are characterized by their large orange-red bill and larger stature. Usually found along tropical and subtropical shores, in particular along the Gulf Coast and southern Atlantic Coastal areas. They build their nests on the ground and both parents feed their young. The young remain with their parents up to 8 months or more.
Saw these two one evening while returning from dinner in the boat.
