A fairly small heron that wades through coastal waters, often running and stopping with quick turns and starts, as if dancing in a ballet. This is how it herds and confuses its prey. The white stripe down the middle of it long slender neck and its white belly sets it apart from other dark herons.
I spotted this one hanging out at Fort DeSoto Park.
