The pristinely white Great Egret gets even more dressed up for mating season. A patch of skin on its face turns neon green and long plumes grow from its back past its tail. They are seasonally monogamous. They breed in colonies high up in trees. The male selects the nest sight, starts the nest and then attracts a female. Saw this one at Ft DeSoto early one morning. Simply elegant!
